Sankofa Seasons

Level Designer & Cinematic Designer, DePaul Original Game Studio
Overview

Sankofa Seasons is an Afrofuturist narrative game exploring generational wisdom and survival through the Black experience. As part of a studio-simulated class at DePaul University, I collaborated on the game's opening cinematic to help establish tone, setting, and thematic direction.

I focused on building the sequence in Unreal Engine’s Sequencer, animating the crow, camera, and props to guide the player's first emotional impression of the world. I worked on lighting, post-processing, and VFX to support the mood, and adjusted the environment to align with the cinematic's flow. Through several iterations of blockouts, we refined the scene to meet narrative and visual storytelling goals.

Working on this cinematic, it taught me a lot about how to shape pacing and mood through visuals. It also gave me valuable experience working collaboratively and responding to feedback within a production-style pipeline.
